Seven women arrested in Malala Yousafzai’s hometown in Swat

SWAT: At least seven women were arrested during a raid conducted by security personnel in female education activist and Noble prize winner Malala Yousafzai’s hometown Mingora – Swat district on Monday, local media reported.

Arrested women were accused in possessing illegal weapons and dangerous explosives in their houses while the detainees sent to local jail over directions of a local court.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police claimed that a large quantity of explosives and weapons hidden inside their homes in Mingora.

Police officials registered First Investigation Report (FIR) against arrested women and presented them before local court.

Reports claimed that relatives of the arrested women were involved in terrorism cases while some relatives were proclaimed offenders.

Earlier on Saturday, security forces arrested a woman three others from Hasilpur – Bahawalpur over suspicious involvement in Peshawar carnage that claimed the lives of more than 149 people majorly school students.

The four persons were tracked through a mobile SIM which was reportedly used by terrorists during the attack on the military-run Army Public School. The SIM was registered in the name of the woman who was taken into custody along with three others from Gharibabad area of Hasilpur, a city in the district of Bahawalpur. A local mobile franchise dealer was also included in the scope of investigations.
