Australia beat India by four wickets in 2nd Test

BRISBANE: Australia have defeated India by four wickets in 2nd Test match of four-match series played at Brisbane Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Australia chased down the easy 128 runs target on loss of six wickets. Chris Rogers leading the run chase with brilliant 55 while Steve Smith who is playing his debut match as skipper, finished the job with 27 runs.

Ishant Sharma took three wickets while Umash Yadve took two wickets for India.

Earlier, India were all out on 224 thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s outstanding 81 runs contribution along with Cheteshwar Pujara’s 43 runs.

Mitchael Johnson took four wickets for Australia.

First Innings: India won the toss and elected to bat first. Men in blue posted a handsome total of 408 runs on the score board.

Murali Vijay played a blinder as he scored 144 runs before giving away his wicket on the bowl of Nathan Lyon while Ajinkya Rahane once again shown his class by scoring 81 runs.

Josh Hazlewood took five wicket haul in his maiden Test match for Australia.

Australia in replay scored 505, thanks to Steven Smith scoring 133 on his debut as a skipper of the side while Michael Johnson smashing 88 runs at the end of the inning help the team to gain 97 runs lead over India.

Umash Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets each for India.

India batting first scored 408. Australia in reply scored 505. India all out on 224 in second innings. Australia chased down 130 on loss of six wicket at day 4 of 2nd Test match.
