Pakistan aims to end power crisis: CM Punjab

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government was taking all measures to end power crisis in the country.

He was talking to the Vice President of Chinese power sector group RUYI, Jerry Leu, who called on him in Lahore on Sunday. He said the government is also paying attention to cheaper sources of energy.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the progress on the two coal run power plants at Sahiwal, with a capacity of 660 megawatts each.

Meanwhile, in a statement Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that sugar mills are bound to procure sugar cane from farmers at the officially fixed rates.

He said the rights of farmer community will be ensured at all costs and legal action will be taken against the sugar mills which do not procure sugar cane at the fixed rates.
