Journalists stage token walkout from Qureshi’s press conference to protest Imran’s allegations

ISLAMABAD: Journalists  covering the press conference of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday staged a token walkout from the press conference against allegations of PTI chief Imran Khan that government had given Rs270 billion to Intelligence Bureau to dole out it to media men to buy their allegiance against the PTI.

Imran Khan has been under harsh criticism for its unsubstantiated allegations against journalists from different media bodies including Pakistan Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ).

On Wednesday, during the press conference of PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, journalists walked out of the briefing as a token protest against the allegations. After registering their protest, they joined the press conference.

The journalists condemned the PTI chief allegations, which described media men as ‘seleable commodity’

Earlier, PFUJ had announced that journalists would stage protest demonstrations at press clubs across Pakistan and before Imran Khan’s container in Islamabad, if the PTI chief failed to clarify his allegations within three days.

PFUJ President Afzal Butt said that journalists would cover PTI’s Larkana Public Rally on November 21 with black armbands, if Imran Khan did not apologize.

Butt asked PTI chief Imran Khan to share the evidence in support of his allegations against any journalist, cameraman or photographer. He promised that those found involved will be thrown out of the journalists body and their membership would be cancelled.
