Govt not to allow PTI’s tsunami to hit Islamabad on Nov 30

ISLAMABAD: The federal government might not allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and supporters to march on Islamabad on Nov 30 in a bid to dislodge the incumbent government, as the Interior Ministry has decided to beef up security in the capital.

According to sources, the government has decided to start beefing up security in the federal capital ahead of PTI’s Nov 30 rally.  PTI chief Imran Khan has recently threatened that during the last 90 days of their anti-government movement his workers remained peaceful, but after Nov 30 they would not remain peaceful and if any untoward incident happened the government would be solely responsible for it.

A key ally of PTI Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while addressing the PTI public meeting in Nankana Sahib last week had called upon the PTI workers, supporters and people to resort to violence, killings and arson to oust the ‘corrupt, sluggish, dishonest and inept’ government.

Though Sheikh Rashid had came under harsh criticism from different quarters for the call to resort to violence, the PTI has not yet publicly distanced itself from Sheikh Rashid’s call.

Government high-ups are of the view that this indicates that PTI might resort to violence on Nov 30, so there is a need not to allow the party to hold the Nov 30 rally.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that army would be deployed at key state institutions, including Supreme Court, Pakistan Television (PTV), Parliament House and Prime Minister House.

To a question regarding the arrest of PTI leader Imran Khan, Nisar said that no such decision had been taken as yet.

The minister added that the Prime Minister would decide whether to continue or discontinue the dialogue process with the PTI.
