KARACHI: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has slashed power tariff for K-Electric consumers by up to rupees one per unit.
The regulatory body has slashed power tariff under the head of monthly Fuel Adjustment.
Nepra notified the cut on Wednesday for three months, August, September and October.
Earlier, the regulatory authority had also slashed power tariff for May, June and July earlier for K-electric consumers.
It is to be mentioned here that last months the over-charging of consumers by power distribution companies emerged, which caused embarrassment to the government at a time when the main opposition party of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan is running anti-government campaign for alleged rigging in last general elections and its failure to address pressing public issues including soaring prices of commodities including energy.
The issue armed the agitating PTI with lethal weapon to bombard the besieged government, which prompted the prime minister to order probe into the over-charging.
