Shehzad taken to hospital after bouncer hit on head

ABU DHABI: Pakistan young and spirited opener Ahmad Shehzad was taken to a local hospital after a bouncer from News Zealand pacer Corey Andreson hit him on the head, leading him to hit his wicket.

Shehzad, who played brilliant knock of 176, was shifted a local hospital in Abu Dhabi in an ambulance for treatment and medical check-up.

Andreson’s ball crashed into the right side of his helmet and caused Shehzad so much pain that he dropped his bat on to the stumps as he wheeled away and collapsed to the ground. It was a while before he was able to get up and walk off to concerted applause from the sparse crowd, having made a career-best 176.

The brilliant innings came to an end in tears. All the fans in the stadium as well as his team mates gave him a standing ovation.
