Lahore Lions in strong position to earn spot in CLT20 knock outs

You have might have seen the match between Lahore Lions and  Dolphins but disappointed over that Lions should have won the match by 40 to 50 runs. Winning with 16 runs is not so bad either all because they are still in a very strong position to qualify for the Knock outs of Champions League T20.

That’s because Chennai Super Kings haven’t got the desired result in the match against Perth Scorcher although ending up second at the points table. Chennai before that match were standing at second with 6 points with +1.2 run rate.

But after that match despite the win over Scorcher still standing at 2nd on the table with 10 points but run rate drops to +0.945. On the other hand the good news for the Lions is that they not only won the match but also improved their run rate negative to positive (+0.255) which not only put them on the third spot on the table but also in strong position to qualify for the knock Outs of CLT20.

Chennai have played all their group stage matches while Lions still have one left in the tank against the scorcher who already eliminated from the tournament.

Scorcher played three match but won the only match against the Dolphins. Kolkata Knight Riders Indian Premier League Champions won all the three matches played so far and qualified for knock outs while second spot still remains from Group A which will be filled by either Chennai Super Kings or Lahore Lions Pakistani Twenty20 champions.

So the question remains how they are going to qualify for the next round? It’s very simple; if they are chasing the target against the Perth Scorchers so chase down within 17 overs or if they are defending target against Scorchers so beat them by 30 to 35 runs.

Lahore Lions have shown why they are the champions of Pakistan on several occasion in this tournament despite having lack of experience.

The team is filled with the match winners like skipper Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Saad Nasim, Ahmad Shahzad, while in bowling the lights of Wahab Riaz, Aiza Cheema and Adnan Rasool.

On the other hand Scorcher have one of the dramatic win in the history of the competition against Dolphins, when young Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh smashed 12 of last 2 bowls.

Skipper Adam Voges is in the prime form he score most runs for the Scorcher while Craig Simmon have the ability to turn the game at any stage, bowler Jason Behrendorff one of the leading wicket taker in the competition.

One thing is good about both the teams that they are relying on domestic player unlike other sides paying huge amount to overseas player.

So the stage is set for Lahore Lions on September 30 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore. So we can hope that first Pakistani team who not only qualify for the competition could bring the trophy home in first attempt.
