‘Two suicide bombers head towards Islamabad’

ISLAMABAD: Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar revealed the military intelligence warnings regarding two suicide bombers heading towards Islamabad where hundreds of protestors staging sit-ins for almost a week.

Chaudhry Nisar expressed severe security concerns in the federal capital following intelligence reports sent by senior military officials to Secretary Interior Ministry.

The interior minister conducted a press conference in Islamabad on Friday amid severe political crisis followed by large-scale protests against federal government.

He said that placement of containers is a bid to to secure the marchers and the federal capital. He praised efforts of security agencies protecting protestors from terrorism bids.

The interior minister asked Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri to formally announce responsibility of any uncertainty during protests.

He said that federal authorities have allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) marches to enter Red Zone despite severe security concerns.

‘The marchers are using females as human shields, however, We will not allow any protestor to violate law,’ Nisar said.

He further clarified that the federal authorities will not interfere in protestors’ routine movement for food supplies.

In case of any attack on police, they are allowed to defend themselves, he further said.

He added that Inspector General (IG) Islamabad is on leave as he has not been removed nor pressurised.

He requested Imran Khan that not to believe in the rumours of crackdowns and provision of hazardous drinking water to the protestors.

Nisar slammed Imran Khan’s statement; says, ‘If we dissolve something hazardous material in drinking water than nobody will be seen celebrating musical nights there.’
