LONDON: England defeated India by an inning and 244 runs in 5th test day 3 played at Kennington Oval on Sunday.
India in reply to England’s massive lead of 338 runs, only manage to score 94 runs. Stuart Binny scored unbeaten 25 runs while Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara were the only Indian batsman to register double scores on the score board.
Chris Jordan took 4 wickets for home side.
Earlier, England won the toss and invited India to bat first. Clouds of horrific form kept circulating on Indian top order as seven batsman lost their wickets just 68 runs on the board.
Once again Indian skipper MS Dhoni tried to save his side from complete disaster as he manage to guide Indian team to reach 148 runs. He individually scored 82 runs.
Stuart Broad and James Anderson took 4 wickets each for English team.
England in reply to India’s 148 runs in first innings scored 486 runs. Joe Root once again played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 149 runs while skipper played brilliantly for his 76 runs to guide English team to have 338 runs lead over world champions.
Ishant Sharma took 4 wickets for Indian side.
Joe Root was nominated man of the match for his unbeaten 149 runs, while James Anderson (Eng) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Ind) were declared man of the series.
