LAHORE: Secretary General of a politico-religious party, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaquat Baloch, pressed Pakistani govt for strong protests on international level against US drone strikes and cross border attacks on the security forces.
Addressing a gathering at his residence, he also urged the government and the armed forces to ensure satisfactory relief measures for the IDPs and arrange the return of those hailing from peaceful areas.
The JI central leader condemned the silence of the world at large and the Muslim rulers in particular over the ongoing brutalities of Israel against the Palestinians. He said that the bombings and land attacks in Gaza and Rafah were exposing the real face of Zionism whereas the Muslim world remained indifferent.
He said that if Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Saudi stood united, the problems of the Muslim world could be resolved.
Liaqat Baloch said that the martyrdom of the army officers and personnels were a matter of grief for the nation while the problems of the IDPs families were also increasing.
Liaqat Baloch said that the drone attacks were going on along side the military operation in the tribal areas. The silence of the government on the drone attacks despite claims of the success of the military operation was something not understandable for the general public, he added.
Meanwhile a JI delegation led by JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, will visit the IDPs relief camps in Bannu and adjoining areas today (Monday) to review the relief arrangements of the JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation, there.
The delegation will include JI deputy chiefs Asadullah Bhutto, Mian Muhammad Aslam, JI provincial chiefs , Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, Prof, Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Abdul Mateen Akhudzada, JI, Azad Kashmir chief, Abdur Rashid Turabi and Hafiz Sajid Anwar,
Meanwhile, Ameer JI Siraj-ul-Haq condemned the Indian troops firing in the Sialkot sector resulting in a civilian death.
He has urged the government to take notice of the provocation from the Indian side. He also expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
