Kashmir’s Geelani, Mirwaiz denied travel documents

SRINAGAR: All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would not be able to attend the forthcoming meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation due to non-issuance of travel documents to them by the Indian authorities.

Hurriyet leaders have been invited to the two-day meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers, which is commencing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from tomorrow.

In the invitation to the Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders, the OIC General Secretary had described them as True Representatives of the Kashmiri people.

The spokesmen for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani in their statements stated that the Indian government had not issued passport and other travel documents to the Hurriyet leaders for their journey to Saudi Arabia.

Syed Ali Geelani, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the puppet authorities were subjecting pro-freedom leaders to illegal detention for months without any justification. He demanded immediate release of all unlawfully detained Hurriyet leaders and activists including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Ameer Hamza, Meraj-ud-Din Nanda, Sajjad Ahmad Nao and Showkat Ahmad Hakeem.

Kashmiri representatives, Shamima Shawl, Shugufta Ashraf and Palestinian woman, Daniela Dongus addressing an event on the sidelines of the United Nations Human Rights Council Session in Geneva demanded of the United Nations and women rights organisations to come forward and rescue the constantly suffering women in occupied Kashmir. Hurriyet leader, Zamrooda Habib and two mothers of victims, Perveena Ji and Fatima addressed the function via video link from Srinagar.

Kashmiri representative, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi met United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, in Geneva and apprised her about the ongoing human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory.
