Washington: Good news for the Call of Duet game lovers that Advance Warfare trailer leaked ahead of May 4 unveiling.
Activision takes advantage of the early summer months to boost hype ahead of its next release. This time, the Call of Duty homepage features a scrambled, distorted image seemingly showing a soldier, along with a countdown timer pointing to an upcoming May 4 reveal for its latest title.
Ahead of the big day, however, Activision has already revealed the game’s title, along with an exciting trailer featuring House of Cards star Kevin Spacey.
The next installment in Activision’s wildly popular Call of Duty military shooter will come from developer Sledgehammer Games, i.e. the same team that was behind the 2011 Modern Warfare 3 in cooperation with Infinity Ward.
This will mark the first time that Sledgehammer Games will take full responsibility for developing a Call of Duty game, with no collaboration with other developers. Activision intends to rotate the Call of Duty series’ development cycle between three heavyweights: Sledgehammer, Black Ops creator Treyarch, and Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare seems to be set sometime in the near future, which is very high-tech. Kevin Spacey plays a major role in the title’s single-player campaign, and it all looks very intriguing.
So far, the last release in the popular franchise is Call of Duty: Ghosts, created by Infinity Ward. Gamers worldwide are already excited ahead of the next title’s reveal, although rumors indicated that 2014 could be the year Activision decides to make the franchise exclusive to new-generation consoles such as the Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and the Microsoft Xbox One.
On the other hand, considering the series’ immense popularity on the older PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it seems rather unlikely that Activision would decide to shut out older systems as soon as this year. The company is expected to continue supporting older systems at least another year, but nothing is very clear at this point.
As previously mentioned, Activision will reveal more details this coming Sunday, May 4, and the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is expected to hit retail later this year, on Nov. 4. The reveal date also coincides with a number of televised games in the NBA playoffs, and Activision has previously used this even to tease its plans for the adrenaline-pumping shooter.
The official announcement is just around the corner, and we’ll keep you up to date with all the exciting news as soon as Activision reveals more. In the meantime, check out the trailer below to get a better idea about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
