Washington: Four major U.S. carriers, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile ready to debut Samsung’s Tab 4 tablet series by May 1 for $199.99.
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series comes in three screen sizes of 7-, 8-, and 10.1 inches, and will be available in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular models. All three new slates part of the Galaxy Tab 4 lineup rock Android 4.4 KitKat straight out of the box and bring notable improvements over their predecessors, now boasting faster processors and higher-resolution displays.
All three tablets have WXGA screens with 1280 x 800 resolution and all of them pack quad-core processors under the hood. The 7-inch LTE version comes with a 1.4GHz chipset and 1.5GB of RAM, along with a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, and either 8GB or 16GB internal storage configurations.
The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 shares many specs with its smaller sibling, coming with the same amount of RAM (1.5GB), a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, and a large 4,450 mAh battery.
Lastly, the 10.1-inch model offers a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, dual cameras, and a hefty 6,800 mAh battery. All tablets in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series also come with the company’s TouchWiz UI on board, bringing a slew of enhancements such as WatchOn, Group Play, Link, Multi Window, ChatOn, and other Samsung-exclusive goodies.
“This latest addition to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab family combines versatility with value,” Michael Abary, senior vice president of mobile computing at Samsung Electronics America, touted in the press release. “The HD display, multitasking capabilities and easy sharing features make the Galaxy Tab 4 a great fit for both consumers and businesses.”
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 family of tablets will go on sale starting on Thursday, May 1, and will be available through major retailers such as Best Buy, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Amazon, Fry’s, PC Richard and Son, Sears, and Tiger Direct. Of course, the slates will also be available through Samsung’s online store, as well as the four major U.S. carriers – AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
The 7-inch model comes with a $199.99 price tag, the 8-inch variant costs $269.99, while the larger 10-inch version goes up to $349.99.
