ISLAMABAD: Government has been ordered by the Islamabad High Court on Monday to appoint a new Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairperson within 15 days.
Two months ago as well court-ordered deadline to appoint a permanent HEC chairperson, instead following deadline government failed to fill post.
The government had given the acting charge to University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar (UET) Vice Chancellor Imtiaz Hussain Gilani On November 12, 2013 after former HEC chief Javaid Laghari’s term had expired on August 26, 2013.
Acting HEC chairman tenure ended on February 12, 2014.
The IHC had ordered to appoint a permanent head before February 12 2014 and in January government announced that a six-member panel would search for this key job.
