Washington: After dominating the Windows 8 smartphone market, now Nokia is eyeing to launch its first Windows 8.1 smartphone Nokia Lumia 630.
Nokia is expected to unveil new handsets early next month at Microsoft’s BUILD 2014 conference. The Finnish company has already announced that it will be holding a Windows Phone event on April 2, the first day of the Microsoft BUILD Developer Conference. Nokia is expected to unveil new devices at that event, including the much-touted Lumia 930, expected to launch as the global version of the Lumia Icon, and the Lumia 630, a more budget-friendly offering.
The Nokia Lumia 630 has leaked on several occasions so far. Earlier this month, for instance, trusted tipster @evleaks has posted a press render of the purported handset, claiming that its launch is near.
A Chinese blog has now offered more spec details ahead of the Lumia 630’s official release. Chinese portal Winp.cn has published more details regarding the yet-to-be-announced Nokia Lumia 630, claiming that the handset will launch in China sometime in mid-April.
According to the report, the Nokia Lumia 630 will come with a 4.5-inch display with an 854 x 480 resolution and pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM under the hood.
Microsoft is expected to unveil its latest Windows Phone 8.1 at the BUILD 2014 conference, and the Nokia Lumia 630 will reportedly rock the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS out of the box. The smartphone is also expected to come with dual-SIM support, which would make it the first dual-SIM Windows Phone handset. On the other hand, the Lumia 630 will reportedly lack a camera key or LED flash, further suggesting that it will be a budget offering.
The Nokia Lumia 630 will purportedly launch with a price tag of 1,000 Chinese Yuan, which would translate to roughly $160. Nevertheless, keep in mind that nothing is official at this point, and it is highly advisable to take everything with a grain of salt for now.
April 2 is just around the corner and the Nokia Lumia 630, as well as the highly-anticipated Lumia 930, will likely make their official debut on that date. We’ll stay on top of Nokia’s upcoming event and bring you the latest news as soon as they become available, so stay tuned.
