CHITTAGONG: Asian cricket champ Sri Lanka beat South Africa in a Group 1 match of ICC World Twenty 20 match here at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhry staduim today.
The last over thriller saw Sri Lanka win by 5 runs.
Earlier Sri Lanka won the toss ,chose to bat first and put 165 runs on the board.
Perera scored 61 off 63 balls while Angelo Matthews scored a quick 43 on 50 balls.
South Africa’s Dale Steyn took 2 wickets by conceding 37 runs.
South Africa started their innings well, their first wicket fell on 32 runs.
Duminy gave Sri Lankans a run for their money when he hit 39 runs off 45 balls by hitting 2 sixes and 3 fours.
They needed 19 off the last two overs but David Miller (19) was run out in the final over and they closed 160-8.
Perera was given ‘Man of the Match’ award.
