ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday has taken notice of increasing deaths of children due to severe shortage of food in Thar, anĀ arid region in the Pakistan bordering with India.
PM Nawaz Sharif issued directions to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for rapid arrangements of food and essential medical facilities for the victims.
NDMA authorities received directions for provision of food in the remote areas and formation of medical teams for facilitating victims of food shortage.
It should be mentioned the death tolls upto 121 till today as severe shortage of food and water occurred due to less rain fall in the desert part in current year.
Majority deaths occurred amongst innocent children due to the insufficient nutrient supply while the provincial and federal administration took no notice despite large-scale awareness campaign commenced by local media as well as different social organisations.
