LAHORE: Pakistan former skipper cum wicket-keeper Rashid Latif has been appointed as new chief selector of the national cricket team here on Wednesday.
According to reports, Rashid Latif will take charge of his post from April 1st. The former Test cricketer will also deliver lecture to the national players on matters pertaining to anti-corruption.
Latif earned more fame from his controversial retirement that he took in the middle of Pakistan’s 1994-95 tour of Zimbabwe, following some fishy goings-on in South Africa under Salim Malik’s captaincy.
He again returned as “Mr Clean” to captain the side after he had given plenty of evidence to Judge Qayyum’s inquiry. He kept up his crusade to clean up the game, writing an open letter to the ICC, warning of the dangers of “fancy fixing”.
