LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) planned to buy four new Boeing 777s besides overhauling nine more planes under its mass up-gradation plan.
Pakistan’s national airline will replace four old Jumbo Boeing 747-300s with the new Boeing 777s while four new turbo props will be utilized for domestic and regional flights, sources say.
On the other hand, nine Boeing 777s playing the part of backbone in the national fleet will be grounded between September to December for complete overhauling.
Newly bought Boeing 777s will be used instead of the grounded planes so PIA’s nonstop international flights to Canada and United States of America (USA) face no obstacle.
The state owned airline is already facing a 180 billion loss and the up-gradation plan is an effort to leading company out of financial crisis.
