Washington: US famous newspaper New York Times have reported that Samsung’s next generation flagship device Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to debut at Feb. 24 Unpacked 5 event.
There are two smartphones that draw the biggest interest each year leading up to their announcement. Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S flagship dominate headlines with reported specs, new features, design improvements, and more, on a yearly basis. No other smartphones have been able to enter this exclusive club and currently the Galaxy S5 is the handset the whole world is watching.
Samsung just announced an Unpacked 5 event it will be holding during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 on Feb. 24, which led many to believe the company would officially announce the Galaxy S5 at that time. Samsung has not confirmed that’s what the event is for, but a new report from The New York Times says we’ll be introduced to the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch at the Unpacked 5.
The publication is reporting that the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be lower key compared to last year’s Galaxy S4 unveiling. Samsung put on a very theatrical Broadway-style show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to unveil the Galaxy S4 and was criticized for its over-the-top spectacle.
The NY Times also says that despite previous rumors, the Galaxy S5 will not ship with a Quad HD or WQHD display as many reports have claimed. Several sources have stated that the Galaxy S5 would have a higher-resolution display, which would come in at 2,560 x 1,440, but it appears that Samsung might possibly use the same 1080p display found in the Galaxy S4.
The publication also claims the Galaxy S5 will use a better camera and a higher performance processor. Reports have indicated that Samsung will use a 16-megapixel shooter and a choice of Samsung Exynos 6 octa-core processor or quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor.
We will also get our first look at the Galaxy Gear 2, which Samsung has already said would debut around the launch of the Galaxy S5. The updated Galaxy Gear is expected to be thinner and smaller than the original and also have longer battery life.
We’ll be covering the Unpacked 5 event and we’ll bring you all the latest news, so stay tuned.
