MASTUNG: At least 28 people were killed and some 30 injured when suicide bomber targeted a bus carrying Shia pilgrims in Mastung district of Balochistan, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that the bus was coming from Taftan, an area bordering Iran to Quetta when explosion ripped though it in Darin Garh area of Mastung.
Assistant Commissioner Mastung Shafqat Anwar, confirmed to APP that the attack on coach left at least 22 people killed and some thirty injured. One of two buses carrying 51 pilgrims returning from Iran back to Quetta came under attack, he added.
However, the sources later said that the death toll had been reached to 28.
The local administration, rescue teams along with fire fighters rushed to the site and shifted the dead and injured to hospital. The fire engulfed the vehicle.
The law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects.
Emergency was imposed in all government-run hospitals of the provincial capital.
Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political and religious leader condemned the incident. While Shia organisations have announced three-day mourning and a shutter down strike in Quetta against the attack on Wednesday.
