QUETTA: At least 22 Shitte pilgrims were killed and 44 injured followed by a bomb explosive in bus near Mastung while coming back from Iranian city Taftan to Quetta, the provincial capital of the Pakistan’s Balochistan.
According to media reports, the bus was carrying pilgrims on their way back from Taftan to Quetta when it was attacked near Dirin Garh area of Mastung. There were almost 103 passengers on the bus.
Security forces are claiming that they have cordoned off the area but independent sources have claimed constant firing from the side of militants.
According to security sources, almost 100 kg explosive material was used in the blast and reports are that a small car also blew up during the incident which may be used for blast.
However, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has been called at the location to find out the genre of the blast.
Amongst the injured, at least 37 persons including 10 women were admitted in the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) while 7 others were under treatment in Bolan Medical Hospital.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed grief and ordered that the victims of the blast be taken maximum care of.
Majlis e Wahdat ul Muslimeen has called for a 3 day mourning over the incident while MQM leader Altaf Hussain, JI leader Syed Munawar Hasan and Opposition leader in Pakistan’s National Assembly Mr.Khursheed Shah have condemned the blast.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto tweeted that he is tired of condemning the blasts and attending funerals.
