KARACHI: Additional Inspector General Shahid Hayat has revealed involvement of police personnel in taking extortion in Karachi.
“We have dropped down the ratio of target killing yet extortion cases need to be brought down,” he made the positive and negative revelations while addressing the business community of Karachi, the port city of the country.
“We have got GSM tracking system which would be make efforts regarding kidnapping for ransom of the police more speedy,” he further said.
“Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan has also promised to give us 900 CCTV cameras for surveillance.”
Nevertheless, he stressed upon a bulk quantity of CCTV camera across the city.
AIG called illegal SIMS as the core reason behind the extortion saying that improvement in the situation, however, has been acclaimed even by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
The targeted operation in Karachi, which is suffering from multiple crimes line extortion, target killings, kidnappings and street crimes, has been carrying out since the beginning of Sep after the unanimous decision of provincial and federal governments.
