ISLAMABAD: A mere number of Pakistanis say they are proud of Pakistan as it has an atomic bomb.
“As many as 26% Pakistanis are proud of Pakistan because it has the atomic bomb,” a survey revealed.
According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 26% Pakistanis are proud of Pakistan because it has the atomic bomb.
A nationally representative sample of men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “What about your country are you most proud of?”
Responding to this, 26% said atomic bomb was what made them most proud of Pakistan, 12% said the army/navy, 7% said that it was the Islamic state, 7% said having an independent state made them proud and 1% said it was agricultural/industrial development.
Development work, economic/education development, natural resources, K-2, all stood at 2% each. 15% Pakistanis said that nothing about Pakistan was worth being proud of compared to 2% who said they were proud of everything. 17% of the respondents said others and 5% did not respond.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2655 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during Sep 09, 2013 – Sep 16, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level
