PESHAWAR: At least 18 passengers and 43 were severely injured by powerful bomb blast in a civil secretariat bus carrying more than hundred of employees moving towards Gul Bela area via Charsadda road located in Peshawar city.
Deadly bomb attack carried out by the unidentified terrorists in the capital city of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province via planted explosives installed inside bus with more than hundred employees of the civil secretariat.
Police sources told The News Tribe, at least 19 secretariat employees have reportedly lost their lives and 43 were badly injured in the incident.
Rescue teams have reached the location, started shifting the dead bodies and injured persons to the city’s Lady Reading Hospital while 10 dead bodies were taken to District Hospital of Charsadda.
The sources added that more than 100 secretariat employees were on board while some employees were sitting on the roof of the unlucky bus.
Some eye witnesses told TNT representative that explosive material was planted inside the bus which was crowded by the employees of civil secretariat. People were also on the roof top of the bus claim the witnesses due to overcrowdedness .
Nasir Durrani, the police chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told reporters the remote-controlled bomb was planted at the back of the bus, which was taking government staff home to the town of Charsadda after work.
Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has been called at the location who confirmed the usage of 8 to 10 kilograms of explosives in the bomb attack.
SSP Najeeb Khan says that the explosive material was placed in the rear end of the bus inside a carton inside the bus.
The Commissioner of Peshawar, Sahabzada Anis, said that the target was government employees while the explosion occurred first time in the area.
He said that it is too early to say that whether it was a suicide blast or a planted bomb. Initial investigation shows that the bomb was planted in the rear end of the bus.
Inspector General KPK, Nasir Durrani claimed that it was an improvised explosive device (IED) and was blasted through remote. Last year, similar incident happened in the whereabouts of Gul Bela area Peshawar. He said that it is not possible to check everyone in the bus.
