LAHORE: The government says that despite privatization a part of the national flag carrier, not a single employee will be laid off from Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
Shaikh Aftab Ahmad, the minister for parliamentary affairs in the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz government, says that privatization of 26 percent share of PIA doesn’t meaning laying off the staff.
Answering to various call attention notices in the National Assembly, the minister told the parliamentarians that about 19,400 PIA staff has about 12 percent share in the airline.
“The government will keep the management of the airline as 62 percent shares will remain with government,” state media has quoted him as saying.
A couple of days back the PML-N administration  has decided to sell 26 percent of the shares of the national airlines sparking both the positive and negative reactions from the trade bodies and business circles.
