ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan informed the National Assembly on Monday that no foreign security company is allowed to operate in the country under the prescribed criteria for private security companies.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the House during question hour session that if any company is illegally operating in the country then strict action will be taken against those who issued visas in this regard.
To a question, he said that there is a complete ban on the issuance of fresh licenses for weapons for the last three months. He said during the last few years seventy thousand licenses were issued which resulted in the increase in the crime rate.
The Interior Minister said that all cases of issuance of licenses where fee has been deposited before 20th June, 2013 are being processed.
To a question, the Interior Minister said that ninety-eight thousand illegal foreigners’ mostly Afghan nationals are residing in the suburbs of the Islamabad Capital Territory. He said that the government has taken a number of steps to regularize their activities and for their repatriation. He said the District Administration has been directed to approach the UNHCR for repatriation of Afghan Refugees residing in the jurisdiction of ICT. He said registration process of the refugees is also underway.
To a question, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House that Net Foreign Direct Investment has been adversely affected by the law and order situation in the country. He said Net FDI has declined from 3719 million dollars in 2008-09 to 820 million dollars in 2011-12. He said however, net FDI has again started increasing and during the year 2012-13, Net FDI inflow received was 1447 million dollars in 2012-13 which is 76 percent higher than the previous year.
He said government is offering competitive incentives through investment policy to attract direct investment in the country. He said the initiatives include Promulgation of Special Economic Zones Act, 2012 for industrial clusteralization in the country, Investors’ facilitation services by Board of Investment and Investment promotion campaign by holding of investment conferences in countries having potential of investing in Pakistan.

The 5th session of the National Assembly began in Islamabad with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
At the outset of the proceedings, six newly elected MNAs took oath as the members of the House. The members who took oath include Asad Umar, Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar, Surriya Jatoi, Mubashra Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Rashid. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered the oath of newly elected MNAs.
The chair announced the panel of the Presiding Officers for the current session. It includes Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Daniyal Aziz, Shafqat Mahmood, Nawab Muhammad Yusuf Talpur and S. A. Iqbal Qadri.
The House also offered Fateha for the departed souls of three Army persons who embraced martyrdom on Sunday.
A meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee of the National Assembly was held in the Parliament House in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
It was decided that the current session will continue till 27th of this month. The proceedings of the House will be held in the morning except Monday.
