ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to extract outlines from ally countries’ experiences in reformation of crisis-hit national airlines, the country biggest Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
PM Nawaz Sharif called federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Islamabad in which Malaysian minister will present their suggestions for restitution of the declining national airline and its subordinate departments.
The Malaysian minister would inform pertaining procedures followed by their country’s organisations related with airlines, sources said.
Recently, Pakistan’s federal authorities had signalled to privatise the national airlines due to heavy losses but facing strong criticism by locals and the organisation’s stakeholders.
Sources said that the Nawaz Sharif chaired federal cabinet members’ meeting will also review results of ongoing operation in Karachi, the metropolitan city of Pakistan, against criminals and extortionists.
Moreover, strategies would be finalised in the meeting for implementation on decisions of All Parties’ Conference (APC).
It should be mentioned, Malaysian Airlines launched a ‘Business Turnaround Plan’ which helped them to switch from losses to profitability between FY2006 and FY2007.
After the implementation of Malaysian Airlines’ ‘Business Turnaround Plan’, the organisation posted a record profit of 851 million Ringgit (265 million dollars) in 2007, ending a series of losses since 2005.
