New York: As Nokia closing to launch its first ever phablet, a new images leaked of its upcoming phablet 6 inch Lumia 1520.
Nokia is expected to unveil its first Windows Phone phablet and Windows RT tablet at an event the company is rumored to be holding in late September. We’ve already seen leaked images of the Windows RT tablet, which is going by the codename Sirius and now we’re getting what appears to be the first real image of the Lumia 1520.
Windows Phone Central received the above image from one of its sources, and while it can’t confirm if what we’re seeing is actually the Lumia 1520, the site points out a few details on why it believes the image is legit.
The most recent rumored specs of the Lumia 1520 claim the phablet will feature a 6-inch full HD 1080p display and will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phablet will be the first device to ship with GDR3 and will also include a high-end 20-megapixel PureView camera. The handset will be housed in a polycarbonate case and will reportedly be very thin.
The device is pictured next to a Lumia 1020 to give readers an idea of the 6-inch phablet next to the 4.5-inch smartphone. The image also shows the large device in a case that protects the front and the back of the handset. The display on the Lumia 1520 also matches the display and bezel from a previously leaked image of the front panel of the rumored device. The Nokia label, sensor locations and thin bezel line up with the previous image and the site points out that the “standard proto.nokia.com” etching at the bottom of the device also matches past Nokia tester Lumia smartphones.
The image further shows three columns of Live Tiles, including the ability to fit one double wide tile next to a medium tile, which indicates that the device has a 1080p display. Windows Phone does not currently support this resolution, but will be supported with the release of the GDR3 (general distribution release) Windows Phone update. The update will also bring support for quad-core processors, something the Lumia 1520 is rumored to be packing.
We’ll have to wait until Sept. 26 to see if this turns out to be the real deal, as that is the rumored date of Nokia’s event. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes in.
