ISLAMABAD: Even after passing of one week, higher officials of election commission of Pakistan (ECP) and ministry of law are ignorant over acceptance of Fakhruddin G Ibrahim’s resignation.
Fakhruddin had tendered his resignation on July 31 after criticism emerged from political parties including Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and others.
The affairs at the election commission has been laying in dormant as the officials await confirmation of the decision.
Some sources claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari accepted Chief ECP Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim resignation on August 4 before departing to Iran.
Justice Ebrahim, who was the first chief election commissioner to have been appointed for five years on July 23 last year, is the first head of the electoral body to have resigned from his post.
