ISLAMABAD: Pakistan supreme court has rejected the appeal requesting the ban on Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leader Altaf Hussain’s live speech from United Kingdom.
“Supreme Court can’t hear any case based on a speech, don’t waste the time of court” Pakistani chief justice remarks during the case.
Leader of Political group WATAN PARTY Barrister Zafarullah had filed the petition against Altaf Hussain’s statement about separation of Karachi from Pakistan.
The court demanded from petitioner to present the evidence that Altaf Hussain was the head of MQM. During the hearing on Tuesday the court has said that MQM is registered with the name of Farooq Sattar.
Barrister Zafarullah replied that Altaf Hussain’s name mentioned on MQM’s letter head as leader of the party even Altaf Hussain himself accepted during his speech that he is the leader of MQM.
Supreme Court declared in decision that applicant fails to prove the allegations against Altaf Hussain in relation to Karachi’s target killing.
Chief Justice of Paksitan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed the petitioner to withdraw application against Altaf Hussain.
