KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday has rejected the restoration of Local Government Ordinance 1979 in Sindh province and equalise it with violation of laws.
MQM Rabita Committee has conducted a press conference in order to show their reservations over the ancient disputed ordinance.
While talking with media, member of Rabita Committee Kanwar Naveed Jameel said that the provincial government has violated the laws after imposing 1979’s ordinance in Sindh.
The MQM leader said that the restoration decision reflected the mind-set of feudals and lords.
Jameel alleged that previous municipal government had been given economical powers to run a established setup in cities across the province while Sindh government wanted to fill their pockets by the decision.
He further added that Sindh government took back the powers and authorities from the local administration which should be considered as serious violation.
Earlier, Sindh government on Monday issued a notification for the total imposition of the local bodies system all over the province under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance-1979.
