Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has asked who is head of Muttahida Qaumi Movement while hearing a petition against statement demanding separation of Karachi from the country.
“Who is head of MQM, Dr. Farooq Sattar or Altaf Hussain,” the chief asked Barrister Zafarullah who has filed the petition against the statement.
Iftikhar Chaudhry asked the petitioner to seek the name of head of MQM to determine the name from Election Commission of Pakistan.
In his petition, Barrister Zafarullah has held chairman of MQM responsible for the statement instead of nominating any specific name.
The bench hearing the petition asked the petitioner why didn’t he mention the name of a specific person.
On this Barrister Zafar replied that he had nominated chairman of MQM.
Justice Ejaz Chaudhry observes politicians used to make such statement and we couldn’t take notice on their statements.
