Lahore: After getting a settlement with provincial government of Punjab, prolific speaker and writer Dr. Tahir ul Qadri steps back from his stance to stage sit-in on every polling station.
According to accord reached between Punjab government and Pakistan Awami Tehrik, the latter will now stage only sit-in.
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri, who is dubbed as Sheikh ul Islam and lives in Canada for research purposes, has expressed his dissatisfaction over transparency in general elections to be held on May 11.
He earlier staged a sit-in of thousands in capital city of Islamabad for reformations in electoral process. But still, he is of the view that Election Commission of Pakistan has failed to assure implementation of articles 62 and 63 of the constitution in choosing candidates.
Now Paistan Awami Tehrik has planned to stage sit-in on the day of polling. But changing its plan to cover every polling station, followers of Dr. Tahir ul Qadri will be staging sit-in on service lane of Mall Road of Lahore, the artery of the cosmopolitan.
