Karachi: Political parties from Karachi have unanimously demanded to summon army on election day to ensure law and order during the polling process.
They gave this demand during an All Parties Conference organized by Interim Singh Chief Minister Qurban Alvi for peaceful holding of elections.
Karachi, the capital city of the province and the economical hub of the country, is suffering from the worst law and order situation these.
Political parties with liberal values including Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have been targeted during their election campaign.
However, surprisingly these parties kept their silence over calling in army troops during polling. Rather they were of the opinion that army could be called in in case of need only.
The parties which demanded deputing army troops on polling stations including Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Sunni Tehrik, Jamiat Ulema e Islam, Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan, and other religious and political parties.
