ISLAMABAD: Heavy contingents of three law enforcement agencies provide security as former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf arrives at Anti Terrorism Court (ATC), here on Saturday (today).
The personnel of Pakistan Rangers, police and Elite Force formed a human chain to guard Musharraf and escorted him inside the court of Justice Kausar Abbas Zaidi.
The room was already almost full of lawyers, who are chanting slogans against the former military ruler. Rangers’ personnel have also entered judge’s chamber along-with their weapons to ensure security to the former army chief.
The security arrangements are being directly looked after by SSP Islamabad, Yasin Malik, Pakistan Rangers’ Col. Ilyas and Col. Shehbaz and DSP, SHO of local police station.
Gen. (retd) Musharraf had to wait for half an hour in his car before being given clearance to approach the court.
Earlier, yesterday, judicial magistrate ordered to produce former president before the ATC after provisions of the same were included in his case.
Police asks for judicial remand
During the hearing, police has asked the judiciary to send Gen. (retd) Musharraf on judicial remand.
However, counsel of the petitioner, Advocate Ashraf Gujjar called for bodily remand of the former army chief.
Court reserves decision
General (retd) Pervez Musharraf leaves the ATC as the latter reserves its decision on sending the former army chief on remand.
Case adjourned till May 4
The ATC has sent Gen (retd) Musharraf on judicial remand till May 4.
