LAHORE: The election tribunal has declared PPP candidate of NA 118 constituency Asif Hashmi ineligible to contest elections.
The candidate had filed appeal against rejection of his papers by the returning officer. The decision was given on the grounds that the said person had remained chairman of Matroka Waqf Imlak Board.
Meanwhile, former provincial minister of PPP, Murad Ali Shah was also announced ineligible to contest elections. Shah had filed plea against rejection of his paper over possessing dual nationality. However, tribunal maintained the verdict of the RO.
Yesterday, former military ruler Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s appeal against annulling of his papers from NA 250 constituency was also rejected by the judicial authority.
