Lahore: Jamiat Ulemai-Islam chief of his own faction, Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that the Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) represents a secular mindset.
Criticizing ECP on the new code of conduct, Fazlur Rehman said that the commission’s ban on using Islam for the election campaign is against the ideology of Pakistan.
“ECP should clear its stance on the current increase in the code of conduct,” JUI-F chied said while addressing a public gathering in Lahore.
He said that 600 candidates of the party were contesting elections from different constituencies of the country.
The JUI-F chief also criticized retuning officers for asking irrelevant questions from the nominees saying that the ROs insulted nominees. “When you don’t know the things you ask such questions,” he added.
He further said that there was unrest at the borders of the country adding that his party would bring peace in the country.
“Slaves cannot bring peace in the country,” he said.
