ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has opposed the provision of voting right to overseas Pakistanis.
According to a television report, the ECP says uncertified and untested e-voting system could cause hazardous results over the election process.
The general election are scheduled to be held on May 11 as scrutiny of the electoral candidates has also been completed.
The country’s highest court had ordered the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) to take measures to provide e-voting facility to overseas Pakistani.
However, the ECP, opposing the e-voting facility, has suggested that initially the system should be used on a limited scale and it also requires legislation also.
