RAWALPINDI: A Returning Officer (RO) on Sunday rejected the nomination papers of former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for NA-51.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and ex-premier of the country is currently facing a mega corruption case pertaining to rental power projects.
Rejecting the papers, the RO said that apparently the ex-PM did not fulfill the criteria of “Sadiq” and “Ameen”.
The constituency, NA-51, also include Gojar Khan, the native village of Ashraf.
Earlier, an RO in Gujranwala also rejected the nomination paper of another PPP Leader and former federal minister Imtiaz Safdar Warraich for NA-98 Gujranwala.
The RO, rejecting the papers, said that Warraich did not fulfill the criteria established in the Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
“Imtaiz Safdar Waraich has mentioned wrong detail of his assests,” the RO said.
