Rawalpindi: Lawyers locked up a judge in Rawalpindi today (Monday) for his ‘refusal’ to listen to their demands.
According to a private news channel, the additional session judge, Ahmed Yar Gondal was restricted in his own room as he reportedly delayed the lawyers’ call to take notice of a case, for which he had given them assurance.
It may be mentioned here that the two had also traded barbs some days ago, which resulted into today’s incident.
Till filing of this report, the law expert has not been rescued by police or any other sort of law enforcement agency, making it worse.
The incident has once again highlighted the high-handedness of lawyers to achieve self-favoring results relating to different cases and persons. Sadly, when action is taken against the legal workers, then they hold protests, observe strike and even resort to challenging the writ of the government.
Election process halted
The process of scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates has been halted due to the incident, raising concerns.
Judge released
After due negotiations, the judge has been released from the back door of the room in he was locked.
