New Delhi: A 21-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped in a car in India’s northern city of Amritsar, police said on Tuesday.
The attackers played loud music on the car stereo as they drove around the city for an hour late on Monday, allegedly taking turns to rape the young woman, police officer Harjit Singh Brar said.
“The victim was returning home from work on Monday night when two men forced her into the car near a bus stop,” he said. “Two more men got into the car later. After raping her, the men threw her out of the car.”
The victim was admitted to a hospital where she was said to be in a stable condition.
Charges have been filed with the police for abduction and gang rape. Brar said police have identified two of the attackers and hoped to make arrests soon.
