Islamabad: The Government of Japan has awarded MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan) Research Scholarships for the year of 2013 to twelve postgraduate Pakistani students, aiming to provide an opportunity to pursue higher studies at universities in Japan.
Embassy of Japan organised A ceremony was on Thursday in which the students were granted by their scholarships.Some alumni members, MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP), exchanged their views and experiences with the new scholarship grantees.
Toshikazu Isomura, Counsellor, Head of Public Affairs Section, congratulated the students and said that they would come back to Pakistan to utilise the knowledge and expertise which they would acquire in Japan.
He reminded that since the first scholarship Pakistani student came to Japan in 1963, afterwards a large number of students have successfully returned after obtaining their PhD and Master’s Degrees in Japan.
Mr. Isomura said that they believe to maintain a friendly relationship between Pakistan and Japan by active participation in the improvement of education, public and private sectors in Pakistan and have done various significant contributions in this regards.
