Islamabad: The 25th Annual Cultural Week of the International Islamic University (IIUI) is being celebrated as part of the university silver jubilee celebrations this year. A seminar was conducted in this connection on “Moderation and its Uses in Community Building” at the central library of the new campus of the university here on Tuesday.
Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Director General Sharia Academy, IIUI was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Dr. Munawar Iqbal Gondal, Chairperson Dept. of English IIUI, faculty members and students attended the seminar.
Addressing to the seminar Dr. Mansoori said that the basic characteristics of Muslims are Justice and tolerance therefore, there is a need to respect others with soft attitude to eliminate the social problems of the society and educate others about Islam.
While talking about the prevailing conditions of the society, Dr. mansoori added that we should not impose our views upon others. He said that the solution for all this is to abolish the attitude of violence and develop positive dialogue in the society.
Dr. Mansoori urged the students to refrain from violence and avoid it while expressing their views to others. He added that Islam teaches us to help others and the history shows that those nations who adopted violence were destroyed. He stressed upon the need of research in the matters related to Islam.
Dr. Munawar Iqbal said that Islam is a religion of patience and tolerance and we should never ever impose our views forcibly on others but we should also listen to the view of others. He said that Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) always taught about peace and moderation and prohibited from extremism and violence.
