Karachi: Karachi police along with other law enforcement agencies on Thursday made a major breakthrough in Abbas Town blast in Karachi that killed more than 45 people, after they launched a large-scale operation, arresting five terrorists including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Karachi commander Sher Alam Mehsud.
Police carried out raids in different parts of the city including Gaddap Town, Super High Way and Afghan Basti.
Two activists of a banned outfit identified as Mansoor and Inmaullah were taken into custody during a raid in Afghan Basti.
Heavy contingent of police, commandos and intelligence personnel equipped with phone call tracers swooped down hideout of TTP Karachi Amer Sher Alam Mehsud and took him into custody.
Police said that the accused were involved in different acts of terrorism including Abbas Town blast, Al-Asif Square blast, attacks on anti-polio workers and targeted killing of policemen, Police said Mansoor confessed that he along with Inamullah parked an explosive laden vehicle in Abbas Town.
