New Delhi: A girl student from Belati village, 20km from Lakhandur tehsil, Bhandara district, was allegedly raped by a teacher.
According to Indian media reports, the accused Yadav Borkar, a teacher at the Belati Zilla Parishad School, lured the girl, studying in class VIII, by helping her get a bicycle from the Lakhandur Panchayat Samiti.
On February 20, sources said, Borkar was on a motorcycle and offered lift to the girl when she was going to school. On way to Lakhandur, Borkar took the girl to a vacant house in Puyar village and raped her. He later dropped the girl home.
The girl narrated the incident to her parents who then approached the village sarpanch and policel. A complaint was lodged with Lakhandur police station. Borkar had gone absconding after the incident, but surrendered before the Bhandara SP Aarti Singh on Friday.
