Lahore: The Punjab government has cancelled free-of-charge travelling in the Metro Bus Service inaugurated earlier this week.
The chairman of the Lahore Transport Authority said a fare of Rs20 will be charged from passengers from Sunday.
He said the free service, which was announced earlier for four weeks, was cancelled as the deserving passengers were finding it difficult travelling in the buses.
The project costs Rs30 billion, according to the Punjab government, and was completed in record time of eleven months.
The buses are plying from Gajjumata to Shahdara, a distance of 27 kilometres.
