Mumbai: West Indies Women on Wednesday defeated Australia by eight runs to qualify in the final of ICC Women’s World Cup being played in India.
West Indies won the toss and elected to bat against Australia. The windies players struggled to face the Aussie attack and were all out for 164 runs in 47th over. Deandra Dottin who came into bat at seventh spot scored 60 of 67 balls to take her team to a quite defendable total. Opener Natasha Mclean stayed at the crease for a while and scored 26 runs.
Australia’s Holly Ferling grabbed three wickets for just 27 runs in her seven overs spell while Megan Schutt picked three wickets for 50 runs in her 10 overs.
Replying to this, Australian women who got over 50 runs third-wicket stand were bowled out 156 runs in 49th over. Alex Blackwell was the top scorer for the Oz with 45 runs while Jess Cameron and Rachael Haynes scored 39 and 21 runs respectively.
West Indian Shanel Daley took three wickets for just 22 runs while Stafanie Taylor snaffled two wickets for 26 runs.
