Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) rebuked the additional attorney general over the government’s failure to produce relevant documents before the bench in a case on the inclusion of Mianwali district in the proposed Bahawalpur Janoobi Punjab province.
The court had directed the government to produce the recommendations on new provinces which it had submitted in the National Assembly earlier this week.
The LHC also told the government to produce a copy of the notification issued about the formation of the parliamentary commission formed for new provinces.
But today the additional AG requested for more time to produce the records as he could not get access to them.
Justice Khalid Mehmood responded that the government was not asked to solve an algebra problem. It was only asked to produce a few documents.
Adjourning the hearing to February 6, the court told the attorney to bring the documents by the next hearing.
